being artsy (pt. 2)
my best friend The Fluffer

Venturing out with a camera is my favorite avenue for slowing down and observing what's around me. I feel challenged to catch fleeting moments: a bird in flight, a beam of sunlight, the movement of water; a feeling of stillness; brightness; darkness, or connection with those in the picture.
My earliest memory of photography/editing was my childhood pastime of cutting off the heads of my family members in family photos and pasting them onto the bodies of penguins, bears, other people, you name it. Using the pioneering editing software known as "Paint". You may have heard of it. I thought it was the funniest thing in the world. I still find entertainment and a creative outlet in playing with pictures. It's how I pass free time and also how I procrastinate my to-do's, because photo walks and editing pics are both activities I do to let my mind relax.
I honestly have always hated being posed for photos, and I've especially disliked being asked to "smile for the camera", so I've found the easier solution: Be the one holding it :)
This also means I am uber sensitive to how great photos can freeze real memories and emotion, or can work within fabricated, awkward moments. I'm not here to create or capture the latter. I aim to be part of the former.
